Marjane Satrapi is best known for writing the critically acclaimed graphic novel Persepolis and for directing its film adaptation. However, she has gone on to make other things as well. For instance, she has created the films Chicken With Plums and The Gang of the Jotas. But now Satrapi has decided to do something a bit more sinister.
Her latest project is an independent film about a serial killer, played by Ryan Reynolds, who heeds the wisdom of his pet dog and cat (as one often does). But, unfortunately, he also has a slight tendency to murder people and to cut them up into tiny pieces. Satrapi told The Independent “I was given the script by my US agent and read it in one sitting, which is not like me. I thought it was crazy and fucked up, but decided I had to give it a go.” You can find the original story here.

Ryan Reynolds reached out to Satrapi for the lead role. The actor sent a video from his iPhone to Satrapi that showed him acting out a scene with a dog and severed head. At the Sundance Film Festival this year, the film was well received and both Satrapi and the movie writer Michael R Perry are pleased with the film. The film is called The Voices and is expected to release some time this year. This news was brought to you by The Independent.
